The Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first championship series since 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an incredible feeling."

Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I want up in that situation besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the one club never to appear in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it's painful" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
