Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
