Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
